This recommendation is likely to be one of the most beautiful hiking tours you will undertake during your holiday in the Dolomites. Capanna Alpina, in the middle of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies nature park, is just a short drive away and feels like something out of a mysterious fairy tale.
The trail takes you over the Col de Locia and it isn’t just the steep ascent that will set your pulse racing. It’s the scent of mountain pines in the forest and the sound of whistling marmots in the distance. Once at the top of the high plateau, the view opens up revealing a quiet expanse where time seems to stand still. The Alpine pastures are in bloom and you can see all the way to Lavarella. It’s truly a magical place. You can return the way you came or continue hiking to Pederü.
